People's Business Award Winner!

We are over the moon, Calm Yoga, we're the winners of the inaugural People’s Business Award for Burton businesses.

Calm Yoga was selected by the judges of the People’s Business Award as winner after receiving an abundance of nominations!

The People’s Business Award was launched in November in Burton as part of the county council’s Get Vocal About Local campaign in conjunction with the wonderful team at Burton Small Business.

More than 200 nominations were reviewed by the judging panel of Elaine Pritchard of Burton Small Business, Chris Plant, Divisional Director of the Burton and District and Chase Chambers of Commerce, Councillor Chris Smith, Deputy Mayor for East Staffordshire and Wayne Mortiboys of Staffordshire Country Council.

"The judges noted that Calm Yoga had opened a unique business during the time of the St Peter’s Bridge closure, which had a major impact on commuters and shoppers. Despite this, their business has brought new people into the town. The owners have invested in sympathetic improvements to their historic building – a former brewery wellhouse – and embraced new technology to develop an easy-to-use online booking and loyalty reward system.

Cllr Chris Smith said: “Calm Yoga’s owner’s held classes in community venues before taking the leap of faith to open a permanent yoga studio in the town.

“Some of the nominations said it had brought added customers into Burton who had explored the town, for the first time in many years. They talked about excellent customer service and value and praised the staff for listening to customer requests for classes and workshops and adding them to the timetable. Customers said they felt valued and praised Calm Yoga for helping to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.’’
