We now have Hot Yoga!
- Opening the books:
Research has found that practising yoga in a heated room has similar benefits to that of sitting in a sauna. The heat increases the pulse rate and metabolism, allowing your blood vessels to become more flexible. Allowing the circulatory system to flow with greater ease while increasing blow flow to the limbs. The warmth that is created in the muscles allows your body to move freely from posture to posture.
- A variety of benefits:
Yoga can aid with stress relief and promote connection of the mind, body and spirit. Yet practising hot yoga will need you to push even further to the edge of comfort.
- Sweat it out:
Hot yoga creates a mass removal of toxins in the body due to the large amount of sweating occurred. It is possible to drop weight in class (through oil, salts and water), your body burns more fat effectively in the heat, and fat may redistribute and be used as energy in the class.
- Glowing skin:
You’ll notice after class, that infamous hot yoga ‘glow’, which occurs during the heated practice which will aid in detoxifing the pores.
- Immunity:
With a regular practise, there is evidence to suggest that the raised temperate in the room will assist in improving T-cell function and the proper functioning of your immune system.
Advice:
Hot yoga provides many benefits for the body, but it is of course important to be mindful and heed precaution. Listen to your body, rest or even stop and leave the room if you feel any symptoms of heat exhaustion; such as nausea, headache, dizziness, confusion or poor vision. It is advisory to consult a doctor before pursuing a hot yoga practice. Particularly if you have any chronic disease (diabetes, cardiovascular or respiratory issues, or a history of heat-related illness).
