When meditating in a seated position, or lying down you have the time to make yourself aware of your thoughts and feelings, free of judgement. This will enable you to better comprehend your hopes, fears and thought processes, but most importantly this will help you to transcend these thoughts, not reading into every single emotion, so that you can connect with your true self.
