Utilising the benefits of yoga specifically for long course running events since 2010, which was an outlet for Vanessa when she was a full time school teacher.
Transitioning away from traditional academic routes and into the world of yoga, Vanessa built CALM from the ground up, to the remarkable studio and education centre that it is today.
The ethos our of teacher training education is that as teachers, we must be selfless in our endeavours to share knowledge with students, for future generations.

Natalie Clough
500hr E-RYT, YACEP
Natalie's journey into yoga began when struggling with an illness that left her physically and emotionally drained. What started as a search for relief soon blossomed into a life-altering passion.
As she immersed herself in the practice, Natalie found not only physical healing but also a profound sense of inner peace and mental clarity.
Inspired by the transformative power of yoga, she found CALM back in 2018 and became a certified yoga teacher, dedicated to sharing this gift with others.
Natalie's classes and training courses focus on holistic well-being, aiming to help students find balance, strength, and serenity both inside and out.
Her compassionate and inclusive teaching style welcomes practitioners of all levels, encouraging them to explore their own paths to wellness.
Charlotte Larkin
500hr RYT, YACEP
Charlotte first discovered yoga while recovering from a Dance training injury. She found the more gentle movement and mindful aspect of yoga the perfect compliment to a busy lifestyle.
She commenced her initial 200 hour YTT with CALM in 2019 and has never looked back! Having now completed over 800 hours of Yoga training, she is an experienced Yoga Alliance teacher and is honoured to be sharing the joy of yoga with others.
Previous to joining CALM's Education Faculty in 2022, Charlotte worked for over a decade in Education as a senior leader, working alongside several Universities in the Midlands area, helping to lecture and mentor trainee and newly qualified teachers.
Charlotte decided to follow her passion and exchange the classroom for the yoga studio full time, completing further CPD courses including: Yin, Mindfulness, pre and post pregnancy yoga and Pilates.
She places a strong emphasis on finding a safe practice for all bodies and looks forward to welcoming you into the inclusive setting of CALM.
Kirby Marhkam
500hr RYT, YACEP
After experiencing a serious spinal injury in 2013 while rock climbing, Kirby began to explore different methodologies for healing from trauma. Already having an MSc in Biology & Psychology, she was drawn to the huge array of people’s experiences of yoga as a tool for healing and recovery across different needs and began practicing for herself with profound benefit.
After managing a company working within nutrition for 10+years followed by supporting NHS patients in self-management of health conditions, she felt the need for change and to be able to do more to support people on their journey, taking her teacher training at CALM in 2022. This was just the beginning!
Specialising in Aerial Yoga, Yin, Pilates & Qi Gong as movement practices to bring joy and wellbeing to people, she was still finding that injuries are a regular issue for many, and can feel like a significant boundary to overcome. Focusing on functional movement and anatomy, training in sports massage and completing more than 520hrs of further learning along-side her Psychotherapeutic Counselling studies, Kirby is looking forward to sharing knowledge of whole-being experience in what it means to be a yoga teacher, and to hold that space for others with care.
We are all forever students gifted with the opportunity to learn from each other.
Emma Bate
200hr RYT, YACEP
Kat Stephenson
200hr RYT, YACEP
Kat found yoga at the age of 24 when she was struggling with recovery from an Eating Disorder. It was the first time she'd moved her body from a place of love & compassion and as she deepened her own practice she knew she wanted to help others with their mental health - through yoga.
Fast forward 6 years and Kat is a trauma-informed yoga teacher that specialises in somatics, the nervous system, restorative yoga & yin yoga.
Kat believe that as yoga teachers it is our responsibility to hold space for students in a way that is as inclusive & accessible as possible.
She is particularly interested in the intersection of Eastern Philosophy & Western Psychology, which is where a lot of her teaching coalesces. Specialising in working with people 1-1 and would like to train as a Somatic Therapist in a few years time.
Kat aim to bring her joy & enthusiasm to YTT - with teaching style that is warm & nurturing with a generous dollop of humour. Kat is bringing her expertise in trauma and mental health to the YTT program at CALM and like to weave in somatic practices, traditional Chinese medicine and yoga philosophy into my teachings.
